Washing Away Pain

Broken Light: A Photography Collective

Photo taken by contributor Heather, a 27-year-old woman who has been diagnosed with bipolar type II and major depressive disorder. She sometimes has psychotic episodes and/or panic attacks when going through a depressive cycle. During those time, OCD tendencies are also common. She enjoys blogging about her adventures as an entrepreneur who struggles with this disorder, and it seems to help. This last year has been pretty tough, but she is confident that things are looking up.

About this photo: “Currently, I am going through a depressive cycle, and the last few weeks have been some of the hardest I have gone through in years. It seems I constantly have a look of pain on my face, or a fake smile. In this picture, I am showing my raw vulnerability. Totally exposed.”
